About The Position

The Custodian works under the supervision of the Education Director of the Center and is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-kept center. The position operates within the policies and procedures of Sunset Bay Community Services, NAEYC, DOH, DOE, and ACS. Duties include daily and weekly cleaning, restocking supplies, basic upkeep, and completing the maintenance logbook.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma.
• Job-related training.
• Two years of experience in childcare.

Responsibilities

• Keep all sidewalks at the front and back of the center and the playgrounds clean daily.
• Organize household supply closets and outdoor sheds as needed.
• Complete the maintenance logbook daily.
• Order household supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and well-kept center at all times.
• Replace faulty lights as needed.
• Clean water toys with bleach solution and fill classroom water tables as needed.
• Refill paper towels, tissue paper, and toilet paper in classrooms and bathrooms as needed.
• Vacuum office and classroom carpets daily and wash them as needed.
• Sweep and mop classrooms, offices, hallways, bathrooms, and the kitchen daily.
• Refill soap dispensers in classrooms and bathrooms as needed.
• Replace garbage bags in offices, classrooms, the kitchen, bathrooms, and playground daily.
• Empty garbage in offices, classrooms, the kitchen, bathrooms, and outdoor areas daily.
• Disinfect adult and children's toilets and clean bathroom mirrors and sinks daily.
• Clean windows and doors weekly.
• Clean office desks and classroom surfaces and countertops with bleach solution daily.
• Empty diaper pails as needed.
• Water plants as needed.
• Perform other work responsibilities as needed and required.
