About The Position

St. Gabriel Catholic School in Connersville, Indiana, is seeking a full-time custodian for an onsite role, Monday through Friday, with some evenings and weekends. The parish custodian is responsible for the appearance and light maintenance of buildings and grounds, provides coordinated janitorial services in parish facilities such as the church and school, and sets up and cleans facilities for evening and weekend activities. The position includes regular cleaning of the church, classrooms, hallways, public bathrooms, meeting rooms, drinking fountains, offices, cafeteria, gym, entrances, and other areas. Cleaning tasks include dusting, cleaning fixtures and windows, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning sinks and toilets, and removing garbage. The custodian also performs light maintenance and scheduled periodic janitorial duties, and prepares facilities for activities as directed by the principal or pastor/parochial vicar.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience that allows the employee to perform the required work.
Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and word processing documents, as well as apps for mechanical tasks and Paylocity.
Ability to understand and comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
Ability to successfully complete Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training.
Background screening required.
Valid driver's license required.
Good organization and planning skills.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and have complete mobility in the buildings and grounds.
Ability to perform essential job functions without creating a danger to oneself or others.
Ability to work with minimal direction and be self-motivated.
General knowledge of janitorial supplies and their application.
Willingness to foster the Church's and School's mission.
While performing the duties, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, talk, feel, hear, and handle.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled general cleaning of church, classrooms, hallways, public bathrooms, meeting rooms, drinking fountains, offices, cafeteria, gym, entrances, and other areas.
Dust, clean fixtures and windows, vacuum, sweep, mop, clean sinks and toilets, and remove garbage.
Perform light maintenance as needed, including replacing light bulbs and batteries, cleaning fixtures and switches, and helping replace air filters.
Perform scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties such as floor waxing, painting, window washing, and carpet cleaning, as directed by the principal or pastor/parochial vicar and in accordance with the parish maintenance schedule.
Set up and clean facilities for evening and weekend activities as directed by the principal or pastor/parochial vicar.
Organize and manage workload to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects and priorities.
