About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that school facilities are kept in a safe, sanitary, and orderly condition. The Custodian will perform duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and restroom cleaning. This role also involves minor repairs and reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel. The Custodian plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy and conducive learning environment for students and staff.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Must pass a background check.

Experience in a school or institutional setting.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance.

Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.
Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed.
Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks, such as changing light bulbs or tightening fixtures.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
Ensure the school facilities are kept in a safe, sanitary, and orderly condition.
