About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for performing routine custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and other school facilities. The Custodian will also be responsible for minor maintenance tasks and ensuring that all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a school or institutional setting.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties in classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and other school facilities.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors.
Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Clean windows, doors, and walls.
Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and unclogging drains.
Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.
Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and carpet cleaners.
Assist with setting up and cleaning up for school events as needed.
