About The Position

The purpose of this position is to supervise the staff responsible for providing a clean and safe environment in a variety of buildings and facilities throughout the City. Please Note: An offer of employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a fingerprint screening. If the incumbent fails to obtain clearance through the fingerprint screening, they will not be able to access all necessary City buildings and therefore, may be subject to termination.

Requirements

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
• Supervising and evaluating employees
• Reading and interpreting data
• Performing basic mathematical calculations
• Prioritizing and assigning work
• Solving problems
• Operating a computer and applicable software applications
• Applying local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
• Creates and maintains reports and logs of work progress and performance; mentors employees to improve work performance.
• Supervises and performs minor repairs, maintenance, cleaning tasks, and building and facility inspections and reports.
• Monitors supplies and inventory levels; delivers supplies as needed to worksite; maintain inventory files on computer.
