About The Position

Koniag Professional Services (KPS), a Koniag Government Services company, is hiring a Lead Custodian. This is a union position. All benefits will be provided by the CBA. The Lead Custodian is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and assigning tasks to custodial staff, providing guidance and training, and assisting in hiring and onboarding. This role oversees routine and specialized cleaning projects, manages inventory of supplies and equipment, and acts as a communication point between staff and management. The Lead Custodian ensures adherence to federal facility cleaning protocols and regulations, handles complex cleaning tasks, assists with event setup/cleanup, reports maintenance issues, and leads the team in balancing cleaning loads for compliant results. The position is responsible for various areas, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and exterior grounds, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Capable of performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, and washing walls.
  • Experience in managing custodial care projects
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be dependable, hardworking, conscientious, cooperative, and able to work independently.
  • Custodial, carpet, and floor care experience.
  • Advanced Custodial Technical Certification from the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and assign tasks to custodial staff.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members.

  • Oversee routine cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, etc.).
  • Manage specialized cleaning projects.
  • Inspect work to ensure quality standards.
  • Develop cleaning schedules and procedures.
  • Order and maintain cleaning supplies/equipment.
  • Act as point of contact between staff and management.
  • Liaise between custodial staff and other departments.
  • Ensure adherence to federal facility cleaning protocols and regulations.
  • Handle complex cleaning tasks.
  • Assist with setup/cleanup for special events.
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
  • Lead team in cleaning load balance for compliant results.
  • Ensures a safe and healthy environment.
