About The Position

The Custodian/Repairperson is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that cooperative buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. This role involves a variety of tasks related to cleaning, maintenance, groundskeeping, and general facility upkeep.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Valid Illinois driver's license
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability to stand, walk, sit; use hands, arms, and fingers to handle, feel, or reach; climb or balance; smell, talk, and hear.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must observe all safety rules and regulations adopted by CBEC.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated competency in use of computer and Microsoft suite.
Willingness and ability to work extra and/or irregular hours as the needs of the job may require.
Ability to attend schools and conferences as requested by management.
Ability to travel on a limited basis (most trips limited to a two hundred mile radius of Bloomington; occasional other trips in the country).

Responsibilities

Clean building by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials, and supplies in a safe and orderly manner.
Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Gather and empty trash.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment in office and facilities.
Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Steam clean or shampoo carpets; strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using lift assistance.
Wash interior and exterior windows.
Perform minor maintenance repairs and installations, including snow removal and lawn equipment; changing oil, blades, filters, etc.
Manicure grounds and landscape including mowing, weed control, planting, mulching, or removing undesirable plants/shrubs.
Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning, maintenance, and event planning duties.
Replace light bulbs and ballasts on a regular schedule.
Deliver trucks, trailers, and equipment to field personnel as requested.
Clean company vehicles as directed.
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Clear snow/debris from walkways and parking lot.
Maintain general service requirements of HVAC equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
