About The Position

As a Facilities Custodian, you play an important role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment for students, employees, and visitors. In this role, you will maintain campus facilities, assist with event setups, and help ensure spaces are ready for classes, meetings, and special events. Whether you are preparing a room for the next event, responding to a campus need, or ensuring walkways are safe during winter weather, your work directly supports the daily experience of the CWI community. Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good organization skills and task prioritization.
  • Understanding of custodial work safety rules.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with floor buffers and vacuum cleaners preferred.
  • Job-specific training is provided.
  • All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI.
  • Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous facility set up, grounds keeping, and/or custodial experience at a college or university campus preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Clean, Safe, and Welcoming Facilities Clean and maintain assigned areas using proper custodial techniques to ensure facilities remain in a high state of cleanliness.
  • Monitor and restock supplies to keep spaces fully functional and ready for use.
  • Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and patio areas to maintain safe campus access.
  • Ensure compliance with CWI and applicable fire, safety, and ADA regulations.
  • Support Campus Events and Operational Needs Review event diagrams and documents to prepare spaces according to customer requirements.
  • Set up and take down chairs, tables, projectors, and other equipment for classes, meetings, and special events.
  • Assist campus users with on-site equipment transportation and setup as needed.
  • Monitor facility use and help ensure adherence to campus policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Facility Functionality and Safety Monitor HVAC and lighting systems to support comfortable and efficient building operations.
  • Track equipment maintenance and report needed repairs.
  • Assist during emergency evacuation drills or real situations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to safety and security practices.
