About The Position

The Custodian Night Lead at Mountain View High School is responsible for providing evening custodial services, coordinating with the Head Custodian, and ensuring a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing special cleaning operations, preparing facilities for activities and events, overseeing and supporting assigned custodians, and ensuring timely and proper completion of tasks. The position operates on a 250-day contract with 8-hour shifts from 2pm to 10:30pm.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with site snow removal to ensure access and safety.
  • Cleans assigned facilities and grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
  • Consults with administrative personnel to plan, prioritize, and schedule custodial activities.
  • Delivers a variety of items such as supplies, mail, packages, and furniture.
  • Distributes custodial supplies and equipment to staff and storage locations.
  • Informs students and site personnel about activities, safety issues, and facility/equipment maintenance.
  • Inspects facilities and components to ensure safe operations and identify necessary repairs.
  • Lifts up to 80 pounds and may push/pull up to 150 pounds for site maintenance and material distribution.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment to ensure availability for facility maintenance.
  • Manages preparation, set-up, and take down of events, ensuring materials and safety protocols are in place.
  • Monitors activities in work areas to identify and correct potential safety hazards.
  • Oversees facility maintenance activities and assigned custodial personnel to ensure efficient performance.
  • Performs minor job-related maintenance on custodial equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Prepares site for daily operations, ensuring facilities are operational and hazard-free.
  • Prepares written materials such as safety inspections, inventory records, and time sheets.
  • Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies.
  • Responds to immediate safety and operational concerns, taking appropriate action or notifying personnel.
  • Secures facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, vandalism, and liability.
  • Supports other site maintenance staff to complete custodial activities.
  • Trains assigned personnel on trade skills and safety awareness.
  • Transports tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
