About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning facilities, operating equipment, inspecting buildings, preparing meeting rooms and informing coworkers of necessary tasks to be completed. This position helps troubleshoot, analyze and solve various problems associated with county facilities and grounds.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or three years of related on the job training.
  • At least three years of recent related maintenance experience, which includes the following skills and abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance operations, related equipment and related quality requirements.
  • Must possess a Special Engineering Boilers License.
  • Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in building maintenance operations.
  • The ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate building maintenance activities.
  • The ability to supervise personnel in a manner conducive to efficient performance and high moral.
  • The ability to operate general office equipment including maintenance related applications on a computer.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • The ability to work with all types of people and personalities.
  • The ability to work in a professional and confidential office environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using skid loaders, lawn tractors, snow blowers and Pick-ups with a snow blade is preferred.
  • Must obtain a Boilers License within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides climate control for offices.
  • Physically walks through buildings checking for trouble spots.
  • Become familiar with building control software for all county buildings.
  • Operate door access system and scheduling, create fobs and cards and run reports.
  • On call for trouble shooting for monitored smoke alarm systems in County Buildings.
  • Drain Maintenance: Attempt to unclog drains, treat for clog prevention, and perform minor plumbing fixes.
  • Monthly generator testing on required generators.
  • Cleans buildings on a daily basis. Tasks include mopping, vacuuming, dusting, garbage, recycling removal, waxing floors as needed, carpet extraction and more.
  • Move and set employee office equipment and furnishings as needed.
  • Removes snow and ice accumulations and applies salt and gravel for safety purposes.
  • Clean parking lots and remove snow from County Vehicles.
  • May involve use of snow removal equipment including skid loader, snow blowers, lawn tractors, push blade truck and shovels.
  • Restock supplies as needed.
  • Change air handler unit filters as required.
  • Help technicians with troubleshooting if needed.
  • Boiler Maintenance responsibilities: additional tasks with Boiler License certification such as boiler water testing, weekend and shift boiler checklist, low water cut offs, and water levels.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the grounds, mowing, trimming, spraying, etc.
  • Remove leaves (snow) from building rooftops.
  • Organizes and arranges meeting rooms for daily meetings for small and large groups.
  • Maintains equipment and all aspects of grounds keeping equipment.
  • Maintenance of all vehicles from scheduling service appointments to cleaning.
  • Maintains the lighting system replacing lamps and bulbs.
  • Maintain battery back-ups for emergency lights and door access system.
  • Delivers, sorts and picks up mail on a daily basis.
  • Prepares all recyclables for transport and delivery to recycling plant.
  • Performs other work-related duties as required.
