About The Position

The Custodian II is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public. This role involves arranging furnishings and equipment for events, assisting with the training and direction of night custodial staff, and managing supplies and equipment. The Custodian II also performs cleaning duties, delivers items, inspects facilities, oversees hazardous waste disposal, performs minor repairs and painting, and ensures facilities are prepared for daily operations. Additionally, this position involves responding to safety concerns, securing facilities, and preparing various reports. The role requires adherence to safety practices, knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges furnishings and equipment for meetings, classroom activities, and special events.
  • Assists in training, scheduling, and directing night custodial staff.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Attends meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Cleans assigned facilities and grounds.
  • Delivers various items such as supplies, furniture, and equipment.
  • Evaluates situations and takes appropriate action or directs to appropriate personnel.
  • Inspects facilities to ensure safety, cleanliness, and identify necessary repairs.
  • Oversees storage and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Paints interior of classrooms, offices, and restrooms.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs/replacements.
  • Prepares facility for evening and following day operations.
  • Prepares various reports, such as logs, requisitions, and work orders.
  • Recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Replaces various items like lights and dispensers.
  • Responds to immediate safety and operational concerns.
  • Secures facilities and grounds.
  • Assists other personnel as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
