About The Position

The Custodian II performs custodial and housekeeping duties at the Montgomery County Courthouse and other designated County facilities. The position maintains assigned areas in clean, safe, and sanitary condition to support daily operations and provide a professional environment for staff and the public. Primary responsibility includes cleaning public restrooms at the Courthouse during first-shift hours. The role may also participate in on-call duties such as carpet cleaning, buffing, and waxing.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior custodial experience maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary environments in commercial or institutional facilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and have dependable transportation to report to work and perform assigned duties (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial and housekeeping duties during first-shift hours, with primary responsibility for public restrooms at the Courthouse.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms using appropriate cleaning chemicals.
• Restock paper products, soap, and other restroom supplies.
• Follow cleaning schedules while minimizing disruption to employees and the public.
• Adjust schedules or cleaning sequences to accommodate building use and customer needs.
• Identify and address custodial needs proactively, including needs not expressly listed in assigned tasks.
• Safely handle and dispose of environmental hazards, including biohazards such as needles or blood, according to safety protocols.
• Follow safety procedures for chemical handling, universal precautions, and personal protective equipment.
• Communicate effectively with staff and visitors and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members.
• Respond to changes in workload, emergency scheduling needs, or staffing adjustments during assigned shifts.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Perform custodial duties at other County locations as required during assigned shifts.
• Fill in for other Public Property positions as needed and requested.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility maintenance and cleanliness standards.
