About The Position

Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the buildings and grounds, ordering supplies, and minor maintenance of Head Start equipment by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Working knowledge of basic hand cleaning tools, carpet cleaner, scrubber, vacuum cleaner, and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions on use of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, TB test, and drug screening and submit to random drug screenings.
  • Must possess/maintain or obtain/maintain within 90 days of employment, a CDL and valid state issued driver's license.
  • Regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, talk or hear, and taste or smell.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans building daily.
  • Sweeps and mops restrooms (sinks, water fountains and toilets included), cafeteria and halls daily.
  • Empties trash daily. (No trash is to be left in the building overnight.)
  • Keeps all cleaning products well organized, labeled and stored in locked storage area.
  • Replenishes paper products in all restrooms daily.
  • Cleans offices daily, to include vacuuming carpets and mopping of bare floor areas.
  • Maintains facility landscape in accordance to agency standards.
  • Strips, waxes and buffs floors as needed.
  • Shampoos carpets as needed.
  • Serves as Bus Monitor as assigned.
  • Drives bus to transport children to and from school, and on field trips as assigned.
  • Transports breakfast, lunch and snacks, as assigned and required, for meals provided under the CACFP program.
