About The Position

Buildings and General Services at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II, with Operations and Maintenance. As part of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team you will work as part of a group and independently. This position serves the Capital District in Montpelier, which includes the state house and many historic buildings. The Custodian II position will be tasked with general cleaning tasks including but not limited to vacuuming, moping, dusting, trash removal and recycling. This is a full-time position, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 12pm to 8:30pm. The position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of a background check. The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state Government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. As part of the Operations and Maintenance Division you will be an essential team member and part of the largest division in BGS. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $1000! Only new hires employed by BGS as a BGS Custodian II in the location specified in this job posting are eligible for this bonus program. Requirements

  • One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.
  • One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Own transportation for travel between work locations.
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to lift weights of up to 50-lbs.

Responsibilities

  • General cleaning tasks including but not limited to vacuuming, moping, dusting, trash removal and recycling.
