About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care’s Environmental Services department is seeking a Custodian to help provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff. The position is performed fully on campus and may involve bloodborne pathogen exposure risk.

Environmental Services is responsible for upkeep and cleaning of more than 2.8 million square feet of the hospital and supports 24/7 operations. The department is committed to maintaining a functional and safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and others served by University of Iowa Health Care.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
• Driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Nice To Haves

• Previous cleaning experience.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting and with the public.
• Experience using cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning.
• Remove trash.
• Stock supplies for the cart and custodial area.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and refill restroom supplies.
• Dust, vacuum, sweep, and damp-mop hard-surface floors.
• Clean carpets.
• Make units and beds.
• Wash walls and ceilings.
• Move furniture and set up rooms.
• Use various types of custodial equipment to perform duties.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
