About The Position

Action Pact is a community action agency dedicated to improving lives and communities for over 50 years. We are recruiting for a full-time Custodian who will be responsible for performing custodial and maintenance duties in the center and ensuring the safety of the facility. This role also includes responsibilities as a Food Transporter.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and waxing hallways, stairs, offices, classrooms, walls, and other areas of the building.
  • Emptying trash receptacles and bagging trash for proper disposal and decontaminating trash receptacles.
  • Moving, rearranging, and dusting furniture and fixtures.
  • Securing the area after performing cleaning duties.
  • Receiving and distributing shipments.
  • Maintaining, mixing, and distributing supplies as necessary.
  • Keeping inventory of custodial supplies and restocking them as necessary throughout the facility.
  • Cleaning and waxing floors using industrial-size mops and/or machines.
  • Stripping and polishing floors using buffing machines.
  • Mixing or blending routine cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
  • Treating staff, visitors, and children with professional respect.
  • Washing blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
  • Sweeping sidewalks, porches, and tiled surfaces.
  • Operating a wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas.
  • Making simple or temporary repairs to broken furniture and equipment.
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting the need for painting and minor building or equipment repair to the supervisor.
  • Replacing light bulbs.
  • Performing daily playground checks as assigned.
  • Reporting safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Folding and issuing clothing and linen when assigned.
  • Cutting grass, trimming shrubs, watering plants, cleaning up debris, and performing other related duties on the grounds when assigned.
  • Performing custodial-related duties necessary to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Performing varied custodial tasks necessary for the upkeep of the building and grounds.
  • Notifying the Lead Teacher/Center Coordinator when unsupervised children are detected.
  • Responsible for the care and accountability of assigned assets including inventory and records of such.
  • Performing all duties in a safe and professional manner.
  • Promoting parent and community volunteers and actively seeking in-kind donations.
  • Transporting food to and from the classrooms.
  • Assisting with the serving and cleaning up of meals.
  • Returning utensils and serving materials to the preparation site.
  • Knowing guidelines for portions served to enrollees and staff.
  • Adhering to designated health and safety procedures such as washing hands, wearing gloves, and wearing a hair net.
