Custodial Worker - Downtown Cleveland (7:00am - 3:00pm)
About The Position
Vocational Guidance Services (VGS) is hiring for a Custodial Worker position as part of one of their custodial services contracts at the Anthony J. Celebreeze Federal Building. VGS is a not-for-profit vocational rehabilitation agency with over 135 years of experience serving individuals with disabilities or other employment barriers. This role involves completing assigned custodial responsibilities in a commercial cleaning account, ensuring high quality and timely completion of tasks. The position requires regular attendance, maintaining a positive work atmosphere, and adhering to agency safety policies.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass federal clearance process.
- Must present a Real ID (indicated by a star at the top of ID) to begin the federal clearance process.
Nice To Haves
- Previous custodial experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Complete assigned custodial responsibilities in a commercial cleaning account.
- Complete all tasks assigned in the specified allotted time and ensure a high level of quality.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office space.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture.
- Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean ash trays and cigarette urns.
- Handle recycling materials.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and sanitize bathrooms.
- Refill restroom dispensers.
- Operate a power vacuum.
- Select proper chemicals, control dilution ratios, and use proper techniques for the area cleaned.
- Follow all manufacturers' recommendations for the use of all cleaning solutions.
- Properly stock cart.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Follow all instructions of the Account Manager.
- Follow the daily job routine in the order it is outlined.
- Use the correct step-by-step procedures for each cleaning task.
- Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment.
- Inform the Account Manager of any equipment malfunctions or unusual occurrences on the job.
- Ensure a level of cleanliness which meets the quality expectations of the customer.
- Maintain all equipment, supplies, and supply rooms in an orderly fashion.
- Assist with snow removal.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a positive manner that gets along with customers, vendors, program participants, co-workers, and supervisors.
