About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of assigned facilities and surrounding grounds. Duties include routine custodial services, minor maintenance support, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

Requirements

  • 3 years of related experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Class "C" non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points.
  • Knowledge of standard custodial practices, materials, and equipment
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including hazard communication and safety signage
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous waste
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on custodial equipment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public
  • Ability to provide courteous and responsive customer service
  • Must comply with all Federal (OSHA), State of Maryland (MOSH), safety regulations and applicable Harford County safety policies, procedures, or manuals as required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize all surfaces, including floors, walls, stairwells, and handrails
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, and wax floors; wash walls and windows; dust and perform general cleaning tasks
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas
  • Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, hand dryers, and related fixtures
  • Restock paper products and other restroom supplies
  • Report maintenance issues such as plumbing stoppages or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor
  • Remove trash and debris from building exteriors and surrounding areas
  • Clear snow and ice from walkways and steps; apply salt or de-icing materials as needed to ensure safety
  • Perform basic landscaping duties, including weeding, trimming, and lawn/shrub maintenance
