About The Position

Under supervision from the Facilities Custodial and Grounds Supervisor or maintenance supervisor, the Custodial Worker II provides custodial services to maintain a clean and healthy environment within and around county buildings. The position is responsible for cleaning offices, bathrooms, and other areas, and for performing custodial duties at other County-owned buildings under the control and responsibility of the Lucas County Commissioners. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, safety practices and procedures, equipment, cleaning products and other custodial materials, and cleaning methods.
Skill in operating manual and motorized equipment.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively in a tactful and courteous manner with employees, the public, and others.
Ability to count whole numbers, read signs and labels, communicate with a supervisor, follow oral and written instructions, and perform light manual labor, including lifting up to 30 pounds.
Any combination of education, skills, or experience deemed acceptable by the employer.

Responsibilities

Wash mirrors, doors, door glass, and radiators.
Dust blinds and dust and polish furniture, including telephones.
Sweep and mop floors daily and vacuum carpeted areas daily.
Empty wastebaskets, replace liners as needed, and wash wastebaskets.
Dust and clean books, bookcases, and bookshelves.
Disinfect door handles and phones.
Replace tissues, paper towels, and sanitary napkins as needed.
Fill soap dispensers as needed.
Clean fixtures, mirrors, and partitions; empty wastebaskets and replace liners.
Clean walls.
Disinfect door handles and latches.
Clean calculators, desk lamps, and partitions as needed.
Clean bathrooms.
Perform custodial duties at other County-owned buildings within the control and responsibility of the Lucas County Commissioners.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
