About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is recruiting for a Custodial Worker 1 for the Facilities Maintenance Services (FMS) Department. This position is a member of a team of Custodial Workers and will be responsible for performing daily, weekly, and project cleaning to assigned buildings.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR Six (6) months of general work experience and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
• Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
• A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

• Cleaning restrooms
• Mopping and vacuuming floors
• Snow removal
• Emptying trash
• Stocking and maintaining supplies
• Removing graffiti
• Wiping and dusting vertical and horizontal surfaces
• Performing annual maintenance
• Waxing floors
• Cleaning carpets
• Other duties as assigned
