About The Position

As a Custodial Worker 1 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will make a meaningful difference in the daily experience of residents at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. Nice To Haves

• Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing)
• Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
• Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting
• Work experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
• Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
• Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
• Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, strip, wax, and buff floors
• Custodial work experience in one of the following environments: activity or recreation room, bathroom, shower, or bathing room, cafeteria or dining room, entranceway, lobby or common space, nursing station, patient or resident rooms, pharmacy, or physical therapy rooms

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning of resident rooms, offices, common areas, and specialized spaces
• Complete tasks such as mopping, dusting, sweeping, polishing, and buffing surfaces
• Clean and sanitize all restrooms and restock essential supplies
• Empty waste containers and dispose of trash and recyclables appropriately
• Organize and sanitize resident rooms before occupation and after transitions
• Maintain safe work areas and report hazards to supervisor
