About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Custodial Worker-1 - Boca Raton, FL. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across assigned facilities by performing a full range of custodial duties. This role ensures restrooms, common areas, offices, and student housing spaces are properly cleaned, stocked, and maintained. The Custodian uses proper equipment, chemicals, and safety practices to uphold cleanliness standards and provide a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or 9th grade + 1 year experience required.
Resume
Official, sealed transcripts and original NACES evaluation, if applicable, sent from their educational institution to Human Resources prior to the start of employment.
Successfully complete and pass all employment screenings prior to the start of employment. Employment screenings may include a criminal background check (level I and level II), motor vehicle check, credit check, reference checks, alcohol, and drug screening check.

Responsibilities

Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms and/or assigned work areas by utilizing proper cleaning methods. May include, but is not limited to, sweeping, dusting, mopping, waxing, and vacuuming. Replenishes supplies as necessary.
Cleans kitchens, lounges, hallways, stairwells, offices, conference rooms and other public areas as assigned by using proper cleaning methods.
Removes trash/garbage and recycling items. Cleans receptacles and janitorial closets as necessary.
Cleans (dusts and/or washes) furnishings, light fixtures, and/or air conditioning vents using proper cleaning methods or equipment.
Washes windows and/or sweeps stairwells.
Reports building damages or problems to the supervisor.
Performs special projects. May include moving furniture or furnishings, room setup, including linen or changing linen, and minor maintenance as necessary. Performs other related duties as required.
