Custodial Worker 1 - Norristown State Hospital
About The Position
The Custodial Worker 1 provides housekeeping services at Norristown State Hospital to help maintain a clean, secure, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role supports facility operations through cleaning, waste removal, upkeep, grounds support, and preparation for special events. This is a full-time position scheduled for 37.5 hours per week, normally Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may change based on operational needs. The employee works every fourth weekend and holiday, and overtime may be required as operationally necessary. Telework is not available.
Requirements
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination.
- A conditional offer of employment requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including Pennsylvania State Police and FBI clearances.
Responsibilities
- Dust, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors; clean baseboards and other assigned areas.
- Clean furniture, fixtures, lavatories, beds, lockers, cabinets, and mattresses to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Gather trash and remove infectious waste to designated storage areas.
- Wash windows, clean air vents, maintain window coverings, and replace light bulbs.
- Sweep walkways and entrances and shovel snow from pedestrian access areas.
- Prepare buildings for trainings, conferences, dinners, patient advocate activities, and other events.
