About The Position

Norristown State Hospital is looking for a Custodial Work Supervisor who is ready to take charge and inspire others. This position ensures housekeeping and cleaning activities are carried out effectively throughout the hospital. Work involves supervising staff, maintaining safe environments, and supporting facility operations.

Requirements

• One year as a Custodial Worker 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience performing custodial work.
• You must meet the PA residency requirement.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Direct staff as they complete cleaning and sanitation tasks across multiple building areas
• Teach staff how to follow safety procedures when working near clients and hazardous materials
• Manage cleaning of living spaces, offices, treatment rooms, and support services such as linen distribution and waste collection
• Train staff to use cleaning tools, chemicals, disinfectants, and protective materials correctly
• Maintain logs, prepare reports, and request needed supplies and equipment
• Report damage to surfaces, fixtures, or equipment and submit repair requests
