About The Position

Person County Government is seeking a dedicated and dependable Custodial Technician to join our General Services team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and well-functioning County facilities that serve employees, residents, and visitors every day. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy. This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

Requirements

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of janitorial, custodial, or related experience an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must pass job function test.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
  • Within 3 days of the start of your employment with the County, you must be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains cleanliness of floors which includes sweep, mop, vacuum, buff, strips, and wax as needed.
  • Performs general cleaning such as removing dust from ceiling vents, clean floor molding, and clean windows.
  • Cleans offices, empty trash receptacles, clean and sanitize restrooms, unclog toilets and sink drains and fill dispensers.
  • Keeps air return vents/filters clean and change filters per schedule.
  • Cleans areas when accidents occur due to sickness or vandalism.
  • Moves furniture, office equipment, and supplies, either manually or with a hand truck.
  • Cleans auditorium and sets up and take down tables and chairs for meetings.
  • Assists with the clearing of roof drains and gutters.
  • Performs and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities such as checking emergency lights, fire extinguishers, and eyewash stations.
  • Inspects government facilities and grounds to identify any maintenance issues, damage, non-routine cleaning needs, or potential concerns/issues/problems.
  • Establishes, maintains, and conducts a facility maintenance and preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Reports needed maintenance and safety issues to Supervisor or Maintenance crew.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
