About The Position

This is routine work in exercising supervision over and participating in the work of custodial personnel engaged in the performance of buildings and grounds custodial work. Work involves responsibility for a variety of cleaning tasks performed in and around public buildings. Work includes supervising work performed by a small-sized group of subordinate custodial employees. Supervision is received from a superior who checks work periodically for adherence to established schedules and conformance with instructions.

Requirements

  • Sufficient education to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in general custodial work and related work
  • A valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license

  • Proficiency with computers, including Google Suite

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, schedules, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned subordinate custodial personnel
  • Instructs personnel in safety methods, cleaning techniques, and proper use of equipment
  • Inspects buildings to insure maintenance or proper standards of cleanliness and neatness, and to detect needs for further custodial work
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing custodial services
  • Identify resource needs
  • Review needs with appropriate management staff
  • Allocate resources accordingly
  • Monitors contractor performance
  • Maintain an inventory of custodial supplies
  • Prepare requisitions for supplies and equipment
  • Participate in the selection of custodial staff
  • Provide or coordinate staff training
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies
  • Implement discipline procedures
  • Performs related work as required
