About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Operations, the Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision, performance management, quality control, and operational accountability of custodial services at an assigned college campus or district facility. This position exercises independent judgment in directing custodial staff, establishing cleaning standards, evaluating performance, implementing corrective action, and ensuring that District facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and compliant manner. This classification is a management position and does not regularly perform bargaining unit custodial work except in emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Facilities Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field and three (3) years of increasingly responsible custodial or facilities experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid California Driver License.
  • Knowledge of custodial standards and sanitation practices.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and performance evaluation principles.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreement interpretation.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and inventory control practices.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in personnel and operational decisions.
  • Ability to document and support performance-related actions.
  • Ability to maintain consistent enforcement of standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to analyze operational deficiencies and implement improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff in a unionized environment is highly desirable.
