About The Position

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville, Illinois. This role requires a strong leader with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards. The Custodial Supervisor will manage a team of housekeeping staff, ensure efficient cleaning procedures, and maintain inventory control. The position of Custodial Supervisor requires a detail-oriented person with discipline in quality control, good work ethics, and strong experience in managing multiple employees. The Custodial Supervisor will act as an Operations Supervisor as needed and/or directed by the Director of Operations. All Supervisors manage and coordinate the activities of the entire part-time operations staff, uphold cleanliness and safety standards, adhere to open/close procedures, and work weekends to provide event coverage for housekeeping and operations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended work shifts, and extended number of days as dictated by operational needs.
  • Previous experience in supervision or management.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of part-time staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the entire part-time operations and housekeeping staff as needed and/or directed by the Director of Operations.
  • Establish and maintain high safety, procedure, and cleaning standards throughout the convention center, including restrooms, public areas, event spaces, and offices.
  • Manage housekeeping supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effective utilization.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to standards.
  • Create and manage Operations Department Staff schedules to optimize staffing levels and meet event requirements.
  • Address issues and complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules and address any concerns.
  • Provide ongoing training to staff on cleaning procedures, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
