About The Position

This is a part-time position at Gila Community College. The role involves performing general custodial and maintenance duties to ensure facilities are kept clean, safe, and in good repair. The position requires adherence to cleaning schedules, handling of cleaning materials, and assisting with basic maintenance tasks. The employee will work under direct supervision and have minimal independent decision-making authority. A Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required for employment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to pass a background screening process.
Obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Familiarity with or good knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a positive attitude.
Must be proactive when it comes to carrying out duties.
Familiarity with and understanding of safe work practices, particularly when performing general physical activities, handling hazardous materials, and operating tools and equipment.
Willingness to work a non-traditional, sometimes flexible schedule as needed.

Responsibilities

Perform general physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, carrying objects, and handling tools and materials.
Stand and move comfortably for several hours at a time.
Operate cleaning and/or light construction equipment and handle hazardous materials safely.
Keep to cleaning schedules, including cleaning windows, mopping floors, dusting, and sweeping.
Empty trash bins regularly.
Put up signs to signal wet floors or other safety situations.
Re-stock materials in washrooms (e.g., toilet paper, hand towels).
Perform extra cleaning duties as instructed by supervisors.
Ensure assigned cleaning tasks are executed in a timely and orderly manner.
Work as part of a team to execute cleaning duties and maintain standards of neatness/cleanliness.
Report needed repairs to the supervisor.
Work with Maintenance staff and perform some maintenance and repair duties.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies manually or with hand trucks.
Inform supervisor and appropriate authorities of any unintended/unsafe contact with hazardous materials.
Prescribe appropriate cleaning materials and products for disinfecting and sanitizing the building.
Maintain proper cleaning schedules, cleaning logs, and other custodial records.
Perform similar duties as directed.
