About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned areas of the school building. The Custodial Leader will ensure that the school facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. This role involves supervising and directing the work of custodial staff, performing routine inspections, and responding to custodial needs throughout the school.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of one year of custodial or janitorial experience.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning materials and equipment.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory experience.
Experience in a school or institutional setting.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to custodial work.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors, furniture, and fixtures.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash receptacles and remove refuse to designated disposal areas.
Wash windows, walls, and ceilings.
Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks as needed, such as changing light bulbs or unclogging drains.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools.
Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
Supervise and direct the work of other custodial staff.
Conduct regular inspections of custodial work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
Assist with setting up and cleaning up for school events and activities.
Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and request reorders as needed.
