About The Position

The Cushion Sewing Associate operates sewing machines to align fabric and create upholstered cushions for furniture. This manufacturing role is based at Century Upholstery Plant 2 in Hickory, North Carolina, and is listed as full-time or part-time on the day shift. The associate follows sewing specifications and production tickets, maintains equipment and the work area, follows safety procedures, and works with a team to meet or exceed production goals. Cross-training in other departments may be required as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous sewing experience is a plus.
Good hand-eye coordination, concentration skills, and demonstrated attention to detail.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to work in noisy environments.
Manual dexterity to assemble products or operate machines as directed.
Occasional lifting or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds; rare lifting or carrying of objects weighing 26–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Sew different products, including cushions, top stitch, saddle stitch, and welt.
Adhere to established sewing standards.
Adjust machines to stitch various types of fabrics.
Read and follow instructions, sewing specifications, and notes provided.
Maintain equipment and the work area in an orderly manner.
Work with different types of sewing machines.
Use production tickets to sew fabric as requested.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Work as part of a team to meet or exceed production goals.
Learn additional functions by cross-training in other departments as needed.
