About The Position

McGraw Hill, a leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is seeking a driven, entrepreneurial, and highly adaptable Curriculum Strategy Manager to join its Higher Education team. This role is designed for an individual who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and enjoys building new initiatives from the ground up. The position involves leading the strategic vision and execution of curriculum and content development across the company's portfolio, shaping both the products and the methods of their creation. The successful candidate will bring a business strategy perspective and market expertise, collaborating with a dynamic team to experiment with new product development modes, content formats, workflows, and AI-powered tools, emphasizing rapid iteration and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in business and curriculum strategy, instructional design, or content development, ideally in educational publishing, edtech, or a fast-paced content organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in agile or iterative environments, with a track record of delivering in conditions of change and ambiguity.
  • Experience with or strong enthusiasm for AI-powered content and workflow tools.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to use data to inform decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with content development pipelines, CMS or DAM systems, and production workflows.
  • Experience in higher education, professional learning, or K-12 publishing.
  • Background in launching new content lines or building processes from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Agile Curriculum & Business Strategy: Own and drive curriculum strategy across the content portfolio, setting direction while remaining responsive to market needs, technology, and team learning. Operate as a player-coach, signing, shaping, and developing content while guiding the strategic vision. Champion an agile, iterative approach to content development, focusing on fast design, early testing, quick learning, and continuous refinement.
  • Drive and Deliver Market Expertise: Foster a deep connection with higher education markets by researching and analyzing curriculum and market needs. Develop a deep understanding of customer goals, challenges, and interests to inform product development. Act as the "voice of the customer" to guide business strategy and team operations for new products, tools, and content.
  • Innovate Content Development Practices: Actively experiment with new content design and development modes, including AI-assisted authoring, adaptive formats, and novel instructional models. Engage meaningfully with AI tools to accelerate production, enhance quality, and unlock new content creation possibilities. Identify, pilot, and scale approaches that challenge conventional curriculum development, with a willingness to try new things, course-correct quickly, and share learnings.
  • Drive Market Expertise & Content Quality: Develop and maintain deep expertise in market dynamics, customer needs, and emerging trends across disciplines. Oversee research and data analysis to inform curriculum plans, content investments, and product priorities. Define and uphold standards for instructional excellence to ensure content delivers meaningful, measurable learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate & Communicate Across the Organization: Partner cross-functionally with platform, marketing, and content development colleagues to align curriculum plans with organizational goals. Engage internal and external stakeholders, including authors, contributors, instructors, and partners, to build relationships that fuel portfolio growth. Communicate priorities, resource needs, and tradeoffs clearly and proactively to various audiences.
  • Navigate & Shape Evolving Operations: Thrive in an environment where systems, tools, and workflows are actively being built and refined, contributing constructively to operational improvements. Demonstrate exceptional flexibility and problem-solving agility, reframing expectations, pivoting when needed, and helping the team do the same. Help establish scalable processes and norms for team and portfolio growth.
