About The Position

Galileo Learning is seeking a Curriculum Developer to design and create innovative STEAM projects and curriculum for their educational products. This role involves taking an idea from its initial prototype through testing and refinement to a final, easy-to-use facilitation guide for instructors. The position also includes developing and delivering instructor training. Galileo offers best-in-class, STEAM-based summer camps and also empowers school districts and organizations with their programs. This role is part of the Educational Product team and reports to the Director of Educational Product. Success requires creativity, tinkering skills, a focus on the needs of instructors and children, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will possess big-picture thinking, attention to detail, and an openness to an iterative, feedback-driven, collaborative design process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, art and design, engineering, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in educational settings, specifically designing hands-on activities for creative problem-solving.
  • Experience creating multimedia content, including basic photography and video production.
  • Understanding of K-8 enrichment environments, educator needs, and children's developmental capacities.
  • A deep well of STEAM project ideas and a proven track record of bringing them to life.
  • Experience meeting regular deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
  • A track record of developing clear instructional materials and effectively communicating complex ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Design hands-on STEAM projects that inspire kids and differentiate Galileo programs.
  • Test activities in classroom settings to refine pacing and project steps, ensuring age-appropriateness.
  • Specify materials needed for each project, including quantities.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to approve materials and meet program constraints.
  • Create clear, multimedia facilitation guides based on the Galileo Innovation Approach.
  • Design and sometimes deliver instructor training to build excitement and ensure program fidelity.
  • Observe programs in action to gather feedback from instructors and analyze data.
  • Use findings to inform future curriculum development.
  • Support other Educational Product team priorities, such as new curriculum templates, content access applications, professional development for Camp Directors/Site Leaders, and tools for program operations.
  • Take initiative to expand into new areas of Educational Product design as personal goals align with team needs.
