About The Position

Designs and develops specially designed science and social studies curriculum for students in self-contained special education classrooms. Ensures alignment to standards while prioritizing accessibility through scaffolded, individualized supports that promote student understanding, engagement, and independence. Partners with key stakeholders to support effective implementation and continuous improvement of instructional practices.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience in special education or science/social studies instruction, preferably in self-contained settings

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develop specially designed science and social studies curriculum for self-contained SPED classrooms, including modified content, scaffolded lessons, and hands-on or experiential learning supports
  • Creates instructional materials aligned to IEP goals, alternate standards, and differentiated pathways across science and social studies content
  • Develops job-embedded professional learning to support teachers in implementing specialized instructional strategies in science and social studies
  • Evaluates curriculum for accessibility, engagement, and effectiveness for students with diverse cognitive and learning needs
  • Collaborates with SPED specialists, content experts, and instructional teams to ensure alignment and appropriateness of materials
  • Uses student performance data and feedback to continuously refine curriculum and instructional supports
