About The Position

Designs and develops specially designed reading language arts curriculum for students in self-contained special education classrooms, aligned to the Science of Reading. Ensures accessibility through structured literacy approaches and individualized supports that promote student growth, engagement, and independence. Partners with key stakeholders to support effective implementation and continuous improvement of instructional practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 3 years experience in special education or literacy instruction, preferably in self-contained settings

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops specially designed RLA curriculum grounded in Science of Reading principles for self-contained SPED classrooms, including structured literacy, phonics, comprehension, and writing supports
  • Creates instructional materials aligned to IEP goals, alternate standards, and differentiated literacy pathways
  • Develops job-embedded professional learning to support teachers in implementing structured literacy and specialized instructional strategies
  • Evaluates curriculum for accessibility, cultural relevance, and effectiveness for students with diverse cognitive and literacy needs
  • Collaborates with SPED specialists, literacy experts, and instructional teams to ensure alignment and appropriateness of materials
  • Uses student literacy data and feedback to continuously refine curriculum and intervention supports
