About The Position

The Superintendent of Schools is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee member for the English as a New Language (ENL) committee, serving grades 9-12. This committee will collaborate with the Division of Multilingual Education and/or curriculum administrators to develop frameworks and relevant content for English Language Learners. Committee members will participate in professional development to enhance their skills and knowledge for committee work. This posting replaces all other ENL Curriculum Committee postings and the current ENL Curriculum Committee application.

Requirements

  • Hold a New York State teacher certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
  • Be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a probationary or tenured teacher.
  • Have knowledge of the Next Generation Learning Standards, Commissioner Regulations Part 154 (CR-Part 154) Units of Studies and the Blueprint for English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner (ELL/MLL) Success.
  • Have taught in the grade band associated with the posting (Grades 9-12).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with the Division of Multilingual Education and/or curriculum administrators.
  • Complete various assignments within a specific time frame.
  • Develop frameworks and relevant content for English Language Learners during both standalone and integrated periods.
  • Take part in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills needed for committee work.
