About The Position

The City of Edmonton’s Parks and Roads Services branch is seeking a dynamic, community-minded professional to step into the role of Community Activator. Operating within the Safe Mobility section, this position serves as a central bridge between the City and residents. This position reports to the Curbside and Parking Management Lead within the Curbside and Parking Management unit of Safe Mobility. In this role, you will provide strategic oversight, development, delivery, and evaluation for two key programs: Shared micromobility and residential parking programs. You will regularly interact with and support a diverse array of internal and external collaborators, ensuring an integrated programming approach. Ultimately, your work directly fulfills key objectives within The City Plan and broader corporate priorities.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Recreation Administration, Business Administration, Education, or a related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, communications/public relations, community development, or working directly with external community partners
  • Proven experience in business process development, data management, and the development of interactive visual platforms
  • Interpersonal & Emotional Intelligence: Exceptional ability to build effective working relationships, drive consensus, and navigate complex, high-pressure human dynamics
  • Project & Process Management: Strong organizational skills to concurrently manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets from intake to completion
  • Communication & Facilitation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, conducting presentations, and facilitating workshops
  • Political Acumen & Resilience: Ability to confidently navigate administrative structures, tolerate pushback, and hold steady under pressure while remaining professional and positive

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience managing seasonal staff or post-secondary co-op students within a municipal environment
  • Familiarity with urban transit plans, active transportation infrastructure, or active mobility frameworks (such as the City’s Bike Plan and Safe Mobility Strategy)

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and deliver the shared micromobility program. This includes vendor management (monitoring performance and compliance via platforms like Populus, coordinating operational zones, and managing invoicing), project coordination (leading the annual plan, including expansion areas and physical corral installation), and handling program inquiries and complaints
  • Support with the 2027-2030 shared micromobility procurement process by reviewing current policies, proposing changes and leading the request for proposal process
  • Responsible for accurate vendor invoicing and performance tracking using program-specific data platforms
  • Coordinate the launch of citywide engagement and targeted research to support the redesign of the Residential Parking Program (RPP) by gathering input on how curbside parking is managed across Edmonton’s neighbourhoods
  • Drive the redevelopment of the Residential Parking Program by leveraging change management frameworks and citywide engagement insights
  • Partner with internal communications and engagement teams to develop engagement and communication plans, including but not limited to website updates, social media responses, and 311 scripts
  • Supervise, coach, and assign daily duties to co-op students
  • Prepare regular status updates, reports, and strategic recommendations for internal program leadership and other partners
