About The Position

The Culture and Land Based Program Facilitator supports culturally grounded, trauma-informed programming that promotes healing, wellness, and connection to Mi’kmaw culture, language, and the land. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating cultural and land-based activities while working closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members. The position also provides administrative and logistical support to ensure effective program delivery.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community programs
• Strong organizational, communication, and planning skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Culturally grounded, respectful, and compassionate approach
• Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills
• Ability to plan and deliver group-based programming
• Attention to detail and strong time management
• Comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments
• Flexible and able to respond to program needs and seasonal activities

Nice To Haves

• Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, or related field
• Knowledge of Mi’kmaw culture, protocols, and language

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate cultural and land-based programming aligned with community needs
• Develop and maintain a seasonal schedule of cultural activities and ensure timely communication
• Support ceremonies and cultural gatherings (e.g., healing circles, sweats, smudging, feasts, seasonal events)
• Coordinate land-based wellness activities such as harvesting, fishing, medicine gathering, and outdoor teachings
• Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure cultural protocols are respected
• Support addictions prevention, recovery, and aftercare programming through cultural approaches
• Provide logistical and administrative support, including scheduling, reporting, and coordination of resources
• Track program activities and assist with reporting and basic budgeting
• Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to strengthen programming
