About The Position

Girls Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on equipping girls and youth with the tools to lead healthy, academically successful, and economically independent lives. They offer gender-specific, gender-affirming, and research-based programming. Girls Inc. PNW supports an anti-racist stance and is committed to building a culturally inclusive team, embracing diversity and standing against discrimination. This role involves conducting programming activities with youth for up to 15 hours per week, focusing on curriculum-based activities and discussions to enhance knowledge, self-confidence, and pro-social skills. The position requires facilitators with youth work experience who can connect authentically with diverse girls and communities. The role is seasonal, site-based, and involves in-person program delivery across the Portland Metro Area during the school year, from September 2026 to June 2027.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of group facilitation/instruction experience with underserved youth.
• Skilled at building relationships with youth.
• Familiarity with delivering culturally relevant and responsive youth programming.
• Strong understanding of and/or willingness to learn about diverse cultures and communities.
• Strong communications and organizational skills, flexibility, independence, warmth, and the ability to problem solve.
• Experience being trained on proprietary curriculum and implementation of lesson and activity plans.
• Ability to travel to program sites via public transportation, personal vehicle, or other reliable transportation.
• Familiar with Google Suite and Zoom, and technologically savvy.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

• Post-High School Training, Associates or Bachelor’s degree.
• Relevant and significant experience in gender-specific and/or experiential programming.
• Experience working with transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive youth.
• Bi-Cultural, Bilingual, such as Spanish, Somali, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Russian, or Ukrainian speaking ability.
• Deep knowledge of local community resources.
• Experience working with or have similar shared lived experiences with the youth that Girls Inc. serves.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for each session by planning and reviewing the curriculum and gathering materials.
• Administer and collect enrollment forms, track attendance, and other participant data.
• Facilitate in-person after-school sessions across multiple school sites using provided technology, curriculum, and materials.
• Occasionally facilitate monthly learning sessions, workshops, and supplemental activities for Girls Groups, Leadership Council, and Eureka! programs.
• Co-host workshops with external partners and organizations.
• Facilitate group discussions in a positive manner that ensures opportunities for participation by all youth.
• Facilitate high-impact, engaging, interactive sessions to maximize learning.
• Adapt programming and facilitation style, lessons, and content as needed in response to group dynamics and youth needs.
• Promote programs, attend events, and assist with participant recruitment and retention.
• Foster collaborative and empowering relationships with girls, youth, their families, and communities.

• Hourly starting range for this position is $20-$21/hour
