About The Position

The Culture and Arts Program Coordinator plans, coordinates, and delivers culturally grounded arts, language, education, and community programming for Native American youth and families in Fargo. The position works closely with Native artists, cultural bearers, Tribal language instructors, volunteers, community partners, and NATIVE, Inc. staff to provide safe, inclusive, and well-organized activities, events, and classes.

Requirements

Associates degree in a related field; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of Native American cultural arts, dance, history, traditional teachings, and practices.
Understanding of the diversity of the local American Indian community and issues affecting urban Native people.
Experience coordinating groups, programs, events, youth activities, volunteers, or community-based services.
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with Tribal members, parents, youth, Tribal leaders, school staff, artists, contractors, and community partners.
Strong organization, relationship-building, active listening, public presentation, and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, web-based research, and database or data-entry systems.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and occasional weekends.
Valid driver license and eligibility to operate an insured vehicle under NATIVE, Inc. requirements.
Successful completion of required background checks, including a fingerprint-based criminal history check.
Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain certification after hire.
Ability to travel locally and occasionally outside the immediate worksite.

Responsibilities

Recruit and maintain a network of Native artists, cultural bearers, and Tribal language instructors in the Fargo area.
Develop and coordinate the annual and monthly calendar for cultural arts, language, spiritual, and community activities.
Coordinate instructor and contractor schedules, agreements, invoices, and payment documentation in collaboration with Finance staff.
Plan, enroll participants in, and facilitate on-site Culture Nights three Wednesdays each month.
Provide after-school and evening cultural arts, education, and spiritual activities, generally Monday through Thursday between 2:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Lead or support cultural arts and education activities in classrooms, community settings, field trips, and special events; coordinate instructors, volunteers, and partners for dance, drumming, regalia, language, artisan, and related programming.
Host Native Artisan Markets at least three times each year and assist with year-end student events or exhibitions.
Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for youth, families, instructors, volunteers, and community participants.
Build collaborative relationships with Tribes, schools, museums, artists, cultural bearers, partner organizations, and community members; conduct outreach and develop promotional materials.
Research culturally relevant curricula, complete required training, facilitate approved programs, and coordinate a cultural advisory committee to guide program improvements.
Make referrals to NATIVE, Inc. programs or external services when participants request or need additional support.
Purchase, organize, inventory, and maintain cultural arts supplies and storage areas; collect and enter participant, volunteer, evaluation, referral, vendor, in-kind, and grant-reporting data accurately and confidentially.
Prepare monthly cultural arts program reports and other required documentation.
Participate in interdepartmental planning, staff meetings, committees, and other duties related to the position.
