About The Position

Function is a health company aiming to empower people to live 100 healthy years. Having raised $350M and reached over a million people, Function is building a full-stack health system. This role will own the company's social media presence, including social channels, creator and talent relationships, and influencer programs across both organic and paid efforts. It's a highly visible and impactful position that directly influences how the world perceives Function, who advocates for the brand, and how the company grows. The role involves leading a small team focused on social media, content, talent, and creator partnerships. The ideal candidate can craft compelling narratives, understands cultural trends and their underlying drivers, and can execute strategies effectively. They should be adept at building genuine and strategic creator and talent relationships, distinguishing true influence from noise, and have a history of scaling social presences and creator programs with demonstrable cultural insights.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience owning social strategy, content, and creator or influencer programs at scale, ideally combining these functions.
  • Proven track record of significant channel growth and creator programs that yielded tangible business outcomes.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Deep operational experience in real-time engagement, including cultural moments, news cycles, launches, and live engagement.
  • A practiced approach to cultural intelligence, with the ability to explain performance drivers and audience signals.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to link social and creator performance to growth metrics.
  • Experience managing creator and talent relationships.
  • Fast, decisive, and comfortable with public accountability.
  • Detail-oriented but not overly precious.
  • Comfortable with both strategy decks and community engagement (comments section).
  • Strong opinions about culture and curiosity about its drivers.
  • A builder of teams, systems, and trust with talent.

Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of multi-channel social growth, driving significant increases in reach, engagement, and cultural relevance.
  • Build and execute an always-on, performance-driven social strategy that protects the brand while allowing for experimentation.
  • Develop platform-native content and formats for Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Threads, and Facebook, translating company priorities.
  • Model best-in-class real-time engagement that is on-brand, fast, human, and culturally aware.
  • Set the creative standard with exceptional taste and cultural judgment, focusing on originality in formats and moments.
  • Own the complete talent and creator strategy for organic and paid efforts, including identification, vetting, management, and performance.
  • Build and maintain a creator ecosystem that aligns with Function's brand values and reaches target audiences.
  • Partner with growth and performance teams to ensure influencer programs deliver measurable acquisition outcomes.
  • Evaluate partnership fit through a cultural lens, assessing alignment with future health culture trends.
  • Negotiate and manage talent relationships rigorously, from micro-creators to high-profile partners, and build scalable infrastructure for this.
  • Obsess over future cultural trends (12-24 months ahead) and decode the behavioral 'why' behind audience actions.
  • Identify cultural moments to own, define moments Function should build, and establish criteria for their success.
  • Apply cultural intelligence to ambassador selection, platform strategy, and content direction, grounding decisions in real signal.
  • Map and navigate cultural tensions Function faces during scaling.
  • Lead and develop a team across social, talent, and creator partnerships, including direct reports.
  • Set the direction, operating model, and performance standards for the team.
  • Build a team capable of high-quality, rapid execution with increasing autonomy.
  • Enhance the cultural fluency of the team.
  • Operate as a cross-functional partner, influencing story development and launches.
  • Communicate performance, cultural rationale, and strategic direction clearly.
  • Define and track key metrics for social and creator efforts, ensuring accountability.
  • Connect cultural and creator work to business outcomes.
  • Execute with speed and accuracy, taking ownership of decisions and results.
