About The Position

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a passionate and creative Culinary Manager to lead their culinary and dining department. This role involves recruiting, training, and overseeing a team of culinary professionals, managing costs, and delivering an exceptional dining experience to residents. The Culinary Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Executive Director, National Director, Regional Managers, and residents, to translate culinary visions into actionable plans. The position emphasizes creativity, work-life balance, and making a meaningful impact on seniors' lives, aiming to achieve the "Best In Class" dining experience through high meal quality and presentation. The role encompasses collaboration, management, guidance, compliance, relationship building, and culinary innovation.

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a culinary setting (e.g., Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, Lead Cook), preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Possession of a valid Food Safety/Food Handler's Certification.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and proper handling of ingredients.
  • Smart Serve Certification or provincial equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills for inventory management, menu planning software, and communication.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, cost control, inventory management, and optimizing food costs.
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
