About The Position

The Culinary Dietary Tech is responsible for the precise preparation of daily infant feedings, including formula and human milk, following established written formulations and quality control standards. Key duties involve documenting, labeling, and storing prepared feedings, as well as delivering them to NICU refrigerators. The role requires maintaining meticulous records of infant feeding orders, preparation, and inventory using an electronic medical record system. Additionally, the technician manages the daily ordering and distribution of human milk bank orders and enteral formula for all patient age groups across the hospital. This position also entails supervising the enteral nutritional formulary room to ensure adequate staffing, operating all preparation equipment safely and sanitarily, adhering to facility health and safety policies, and providing training and assistance to other technicians to maintain departmental efficiency.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must practice good personal hygiene and be neatly groomed in a uniform
  • Basic math skills are required, and the ability to pass a basic competency test related to job function.
  • Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years as a diet technician or related field in a hospital setting.

  • Diet Technician or Associate Nutrition Degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of daily formula and human milk infant feedings according to established written formulations or recipes
  • Document, label, and store prepared feedings for infants according to preparation procedures while adhering to quality control standards
  • Deliver prepared formulas and human milk feedings to NICU refrigerators daily
  • Maintain records of infant feeding orders, preparation, and inventory using an electronic medical record system for patient labels or other systems as appropriate.
  • Responsible for daily ordering and the distribution of human milk bank orders, infant and enteral formula for Adults, Children, and Infants throughout the hospital
  • Supervision of enteral nutritional formulary room, assuring technicians are scheduled to provide adequate staffing to cover daily responsibilities
  • Operates all equipment needed to prepare feeding for infants in a safe, sanitary manner
  • Adhere to the facility’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Assist and train other technicians as needed to help the department operate efficiently
