About The Position

Brookestone Acres, located in Columbus, Nebraska, is a facility designed for seniors needing either short-term rehabilitation or skilled nursing services. We foster a culture of rehabilitation and overall improvement of health, with a team trained to meet the unique and specialized needs of each individual. The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in our day-to-day operations by providing Quality Life for each resident, positively affecting their lives daily.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and interpret either verbal or written directions.
  • Ability to read labels on chemicals, cleaning solutions, cookbooks, etc.
  • Ability to understand the dangers that come with working with chemicals, cleaning solutions, and necessary equipment and supplies in the dietary department.
  • Ability to lift, stir, push, pull and move food, equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds occasionally each work day.
  • Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds consistently.
  • Ability to move and stretch in such a way as to be able to reach areas above their head and below their waist.
  • Ability to go up and down stairs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and twist almost constantly throughout the day.
  • Ability to tolerate heat, steam, and food smells.
  • Ability to use the typical kitchen utensils and machines.
  • Ability to remain active and on their feet for up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to get from one area to another while carrying dishes, supplies, etc.
  • Ability to see and read well enough to read container labels, measuring equipment, recipes, thermometers, etc.
  • High personal integrity.
