About The Position

Are you passionate about the outdoors and helping youth? Do you enjoy planning fun, dynamic programs and working with a team? If so, Greater St. Louis Area Scouting has an exciting opportunity for you: Cub Scout Program Director. This role offers the chance to create amazing experiences and summer camp programs that serve Cub Scouts (elementary-aged boys and girls in grades K–5) through outdoor education, hands-on activities, and family-friendly events. You’ll be part of a team that helps shape future leaders by delivering engaging youth programs across the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university —OR— associate’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading youth programs, events, or initiatives is expected.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills with the flexibility to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting fundraising and volunteer-led initiatives is preferred.
  • Prior Scouting experience is helpful but not required; training and support will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and promote Cub Scout summer camps; support the hiring, training, and supervision of seasonal staff; and ensure compliance with safety and accreditation standards.
  • Plan and support camping opportunities throughout the year that promote engagement, retention, and progression within the Cub Scout program.
  • Lead large, single-day youth and family events across the St. Louis area and surrounding counties, often serving hundreds or thousands of participants.
  • Support Cub Scout programs by helping secure sponsorships and in-kind donations in collaboration with volunteers and partners.
  • Recruit, train, and work with volunteers who help deliver Cub Scout programs, providing guidance, structure, and support to ensure successful events.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders to enhance Cub Scout programs and secure resources and partnerships.
  • Coordinate marketing and communication efforts – including social media, websites, and promotional materials – to promote programs and keep families and volunteers informed.
  • Be ready to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
