About The Position

The Cross-Functional Team Member (CTM) in the Office of Student Discipline is responsible for supporting the consistent, equitable, and compliant implementation of student discipline practices across the district. This role partners with campus administrators, executive leadership, and central departments to review disciplinary actions, provide guidance on complex cases, and ensure alignment with the Houston ISD Student Code of Conduct and Texas Education Code Chapter 37. The CTM plays a critical role in supporting high-stakes disciplinary processes, including providing guidance on implementation of exclusionary practices such as ISS, OSS, and alternative education placements, while advancing equitable, consistent, and legally sound outcomes for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in education required.
  • Experience in roles involving student discipline, compliance, campus leadership, and behavior management systems are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and support campus discipline referrals, including DAEP placements
  • Support coordination of discipline conferences and execution of placement decisions
  • Ensure documentation and processes align with district policy and applicable law (e.g., Chapter 37)
  • Provide real-time coaching to campus administrators on discipline decisions, investigations, and conference readiness
  • Support campuses in managing complex or escalated discipline situations, including cases requiring multi-source documentation (e.g., witness statements, incident reports, video evidence)
  • Monitor discipline data and trends to support consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Assist in the development and delivery of professional learning aligned to district discipline practices and expectations
  • Collaborate across departments to support student services, placement logistics, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations involving students, families, and staff with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Experience supporting or leading student discipline processes, including investigations, conferences, and placement decisions
  • Demonstrated experience applying discipline frameworks that require analysis of evidence, documentation, and procedural compliance
  • Other duties as assigned.
