About The Position

This position performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) and computed tomography angiography (CTA) scans, along with all associated post-processing procedures, adhering to established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role involves archiving data into the PACS system, maintaining accurate records of daily operations, and ensuring optimal diagnostic quality. Services are provided for a diverse patient population, from pediatric to geriatric. The CT Technologist is responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies, effectively utilizing required equipment, and meeting the individualized needs of all patients. They also assist physicians during procedures as needed, ensuring the safety of both staff and patients. The position operates under the daily supervision of the lead Technologist and reports to the Director of Medical Imaging.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Radiology Technologist program required.
  • Previous recent experience as CT Technologist required.
  • Able to complete all CT modality competency forms.
  • Sufficient computer skills as are required to complete an online application and the pre-employment computer training requirements.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Current ARRT registry as radiologic Technologist (R) required.
  • ARRT (CT) registry required or registry eligible within 6 months after hire date.
  • Current California x-ray certification (CRT) required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited computed tomography program preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Radiology Technologist preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred.
  • Current California fluoroscopy certification, or obtained within 3 months after hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Computed Tomography (CT) scans and basic aspects of CT post processing in accordance with professional standards and protocols.
  • Assists physician during CT guided interventional procedures, ensuring sterile technique is maintained.
  • Performs radiographic exams in accordance to protocols.
  • Competently utilizes all electronic medical imaging computer programs including PACS, RIS, EMR, QC programs, CD burning, and other related programs.
  • Recognizes situations outside of expertise and performs duties within abilities and scope of practice, seeking guidance when needed.
  • Prepares and maintains imaging rooms and ensures availability of supplies.
  • Acts as a professional resource to other members of the patient care team in the area of expertise.
  • Effectively coordinates daily activities and works professionally and respectfully with supervisor, leads, radiologists, and co-workers.
  • Keeps patient/family informed of process, procedures, and timeframes, focusing on customer service needs.
  • Effectively educates patients and families regarding procedures.
  • Monitors and ensures all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Prepares written reports and evaluations as required by standards.
  • Operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner, observing and interpreting machine functioning.
  • Maintains diagnostic instruments in good working order, performs scheduled preventative maintenance, and follows procedures for equipment malfunctions.
  • Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory and licensing standards and ensures practice compliance.
  • Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties as necessary, including shift charge tech if assigned.
  • Pursues and maintains continuing education in all areas of registry to ensure current knowledge and best practices.
