The position also includes performing basic radiologic studies and clerical duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Technical School Diploma
  • Graduate of Accredited Radiography program or equivalent
  • Less than 1 year Experience as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Knowledge and skills to perform scans on patients on all ages, adapting protocols as necessary.
  • Proficient use of the advanced software for CT scanning and post procedure processing applications.
  • Strong aptitude for CT technology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and upbeat demeanor.
  • Ability to provide proper patient care essential to radiologic procedures.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Ability to to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, families, physicians, and nursing personnel.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or CNMT - Certified Nuclear Med Tech NMTCB - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • CT - Computed Tomography ARRT - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year

Responsibilities

  • Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment safely and properly including scanners, injectors, and monitors.
  • Reviews patient chart/script prior to initiating exam to verify pertinent information.
  • Communicates with the patient by addressing the patient by name, introducing self to patient, explaining the exam in lay terms, and preparing patients for CT procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and medical history; keeps patient informed of exam progress.
  • Obtains lab results prior to administration of contrast.
  • Administers contrast media per protocol, under direction of radiologist/ED Physician supervision.
  • Ensures contrast screening form is completed and information verified.
  • Reviews all exam images repeating images as necessary for best possible result.
  • Completes technical notes in EMR and prepares patient images in PACS for interpretation by a radiologist.
  • Notifies physician of any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient's condition.
  • Initiates clinical response, as needed.
  • Completes patient safety report, as indicated.
  • Operates computed tomography scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, and documentation of images; performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
  • Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
  • Attends department meetings or other mandatory meetings with positive attitude toward department and others.
  • Listens and is responsible for knowing content.
