About The Position

The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the CT department and throughout the organization. This role involves producing high-quality CT scans, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The technologist will also manage patient flow, document procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology
Previous experience as a registered technologist is required
Must be BLS certified

ARRT (CT) registered within 18 months

Responsibilities

Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and by the identification band on in-patients
Use schedule to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and schedule add-ons
Produce high quality CT scans through proper positioning and technique
Proficiently use scanners to include sending to Nighthawk, 3DR, and VRAD
Follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards
Work closely with the radiology nurse and the radiologist when performing biopsy and drainage procedures
Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions
Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA"
Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate lead
Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits
Educate patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome
Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
Follow ACR Guidelines to maintain ACR Accreditation
Work as a team to continuously improve work quality
Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center
Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties
