The CT Technologist performs computerized tomography diagnostic procedures as outlined by the radiologist. The role operates diagnostic equipment, verifies images, and prepares the room with the equipment and supplies needed for procedures. The technologist supports the medical imaging department’s mission by providing proper diagnostic information through high-quality CT scans. Other duties may include clerical work, scheduling, diagnostic imaging, transportation, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning, and other tasks assigned by the medical imaging management team. The technologist assists in the diagnostic work area as needed and may directly supervise students at the area supervisor’s discretion. To supervise a student, the employee must have the same licensure or completed the same training required for that student’s discipline; direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift. The position requires graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or ARRT/CNMT qualification. Required credentials include ARRT, SCRQSA, and BLS. The CT registry must be obtained within six months of completing departmental orientation, at which point SCRQSA/ARRT will be obtained. Experience is preferred. The employee must perform assigned responsibilities satisfactorily, complete a yearly evaluation, and have the knowledge and skills needed to meet the needs of patients and internal and external customers.
